A Webinar to launch the Song Seeking Report & Songbook.

September 24th 2020, 11am – 12.30pm.

This free webinar launches the research report ‘Song Seeking: A study of a singing project within Direct Provision’ and the accompanying choral resource the ‘Song Seeking Songbook’.

The Song Seeking project took place across six direct provision centres involving intergenerational group singing workshops, locally shared events, a Big Sing and a new choral commission. The webinar speakers include the report author Dr Ailbhe Kenny, composer Dr Seán Doherty, participant Lincoln Faldana and John Speyer (Music In Detention).

Through a sharing of expertise and experience, as well as breakout room sessions, the webinar will explore themes of: integration, community-building, belonging, participation, access and partnership. This online gathering is an opportunity for policymakers, practitioners, academics, students and community workers to gain fresh insights into how music can be a force for social change and join in focused discussions to inform future directions.

The Song Seeking project was funded through The Creative Ireland Programme and involved a cross-agency collaboration between Mary Immaculate College, Sing Ireland and the Irish Refugee Council.
